Historically, for a CATIA position a company would have hired a new engineer and then provided them with CATIA training as a cost of doing business. This was based on the fact that CATIA capabilities are very specialized and the accepted mechanism to learn these skills was always furnished by the corporate facility. Organizations then would have allowed the new employee some additional time to become proficient as they understood the uniqueness and complexity of the application.
Over the past 24 months we have seen a major paradigm shift in the way these companies now source new employees. Today they are demanding that these specific skills be available on the individual resume to be even considered for an interview. Having CATIA skills is not something that you can guess at in the interview process you will be asked specific questions about its methodology.
